In the last decade, Thailand has become an increasingly popular destination for young people looking to relocate. If you’re hoping to relocate to Thailand but don’t have an endless amount of money to fund yourself, you’re probably wondering what jobs you can do while you’re there. The good news is that there is a vast amount of opportunity when it comes to working in Thailand, whether you choose to work for an employer, start your own online business or take freelance gigs. Today, there are thousands of people who successfully turned their dream of living and working in Thailand into a reality. Here are some potential job ideas that you might want to explore.

#1. English Teacher:

Teaching English as a foreign language is one of the most popular job options for young people looking to relocate to Thailand. Whether you work for a school, a charitable organization, an adult learning center or privately with a family, you can be sure of one thing – there’s always somebody in Thailand who wants to improve their English skills and would benefit from the service that you offer. To ensure that you’re able to get as many opportunities as possible, you will need to work for your Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate. This can be done online and in your own time before you embark on your new journey.

#2. Barista:

As Thailand becomes more and more popular with tourists, there’s a growing need for service and hospitality staff to work in cafes, restaurants and hotels. If this is an industry that you already have experience in, then you should have no problem finding a job in food service. You can even find training courses in Thailand, such as this barista course, which will help you improve your skills and find better-paid positions.

#3. Freelancer:

At the end of the day, you don’t want to be living in such a beautiful country as Thailand and have to spend all your time in work. You’ll want to get out and explore, so a job that offers you as much freedom and flexibility as possible will be an ideal option for you. Freelance writing is a very popular choice amongst people who relocate to Thailand; you can find clients online and work in your own time, from wherever you like.

#4. Diving Instructor:

If you enjoy diving, you might want to consider working as a diving instructor at one of Thailand’s top diving spots, such as Phi-Phi Island, Krabi and Koh Tao. Teaching people to dive can be a very lucrative career option for those looking to start a new life in Thailand, with instructors earning around 30-40k per month. If you aren’t PADI qualified, you will need to take lessons and train to become an instructor first.

#5. Multinational Companies:

Last but not least, there are several multinational companies working out of Thailand. Perhaps the company that you’re currently working for at home operates in Thailand – if so, it’s always worth asking for a transfer.

What would your dream job in Thailand be? We’d love to hear from you in the comments.
