said that getting dressed is expensive? Not C & A anyway. In August, the ready-to-wear brand launched the very first jean made from only durable materials and at this price, we can all afford it.
How to make sure it’s a durable jean?
With all the greenwashing initiatives coming out, it’s hard to know when a brand is truly sincere in its environmental commitment. In the case of C & A, it is. Because, the jeans developed by the brand is totally Cradle to Cradle Certified, Gold level. The label created in 2010 gives indeed several levels “basic”, “bronze”, “silver”, “gold”, “platinum” according to the efforts of the brands. This label guarantees that the jeans have been made from totally sustainable materials and meet all the requirements of the certification. This is also the first time a jeans holds this label.
C & A jeans have been developed in partnership with Fashion for Good – a global platform whose goal is to produce only positive fashion. And the least we can say is that it was not easy to produce. “Designing the most durable jeans was a challenge that many teams worked hard for over a year. This required a close partnership between C & A and Fashion for Good, with different vendors, assessors, and the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. All the features of the materials had to be evaluated and tested according to the stringent product standards of Cradle to Cradle. Says Jeffrey Hogue, Global Chief Sustainability Officer at C & A.
Where to find it?
The jeans sold by C & A were therefore made from non-toxic materials. During the process, it was mainly renewable energy that was used. And of course, these jeans can be recycled itself, from fiber to buttons. The icing on the cake? The price is only 29 euros. The C & A Cradle to Cradle Certified TM collection also includes jeans, Gold T-shirts.
